Jawless Sheep's Skull I built upon the motif of the sheep's skull by explaining how it represents a metaphorical death, particularly with regards to Mrs. Jarvis, Barfoot, and Betty Flanders. Captain Barfoot I elaborated on the nature of Betty and Barfoot's relationship, and attempted to refute possible speculation concerning the nature of their relationship as a romantic one that Betty and Barfoot refuse to give into because of gossip.

Difficulty v. obscurity Difficulty is not the same as obscurity. Invisible Man was a difficult book to read, but, overall, only one major interpretation of it can exist. Does He Make a Good Point" 524 Good nature and good sense must ever join;
525 To err is human; to forgive, divine."
This is a statement that has deep truth in it, one that even Pope failed to follow in his essay. Impossible Although nature obviously has some mystery to it, it is not "something we don't even understand", at least not to Pope, an Enlightenment thinker who naturally believed that nature is rational and we can look at nature's rationality and purity and ascribe it to every task we do, including poetry. Reading Versus Hearing. Hearing it read by someone with expertise in literature, such as Br. Tom, allows me to return to poetry's artistic element, an element that the vast majority of our educational system seeks to eliminate. What about Nature!? Pope defined nature as rationality and purity and wanted critics to follow nature and stop being so irrational and senseless. I also wrote the importance of talking about such questions. Would he have a stroke? Pope would have a stroke because humanity can never be completely taught rationality. Taught I gave my interpretation of Pope's view on education by explaining its relation to the concept of "blunt truth", which Pope brought up earlier in the poem.
As I Lay Dying
Significance of the horseHorses appear multiple times in a multitude of ways throughout the novel, specifically relating to Jewel. I think horses represent betrayal, but what are your thoughts? True Motive for Cash's Obsession Over the Coffin My question is whether the avid care that Cash takes for the coffin is a sign of his intense love for his mother or an absurd love for his work of carpentry? How everything went wrong made everything go right? I talked about the various problems that resolved themselves throughout the story, and the relation between this aspect of the play and the purpose of the play. Did the various ironies tell the reader a fact about human nature or were they all in a comedic effort? Deception as a Theme I clarified the difference between deception and confusion and stated how deception makes the play fun to read. Did Goldsmith Fail? I stated that Goldsmith actually succeeded by disproving the previously posted idea that Marlow's actions after he finds out about his impudence prove the morality of the play. Alternate Title The original title, unlike the alternate one, gives true credence to the real nature of the masterful comedy that is, "She Stoops to Conquer." The Equations I explained the equation that myself and Dan Grum created, an equation that reflected the devious actions of Tony Lumpkin, which correlates to the overall plot, as Tony was the catalyst for the two major relationships of the story. A Good Play? Just because "She Stoops to Conquer" was only 62 pages of straightforward, entertaining literature does not negate it from the status of an excellent work of literature. The Conflicting Perspectives of Mr. Marlow Miss Hardcastle may have facilitated the change of Mr. Hardcastle's first-impression of Marlow, a change that facilitated their future happiness.
The Ballad
Common Themes I discussed how death was a common theme of a ballad, but not necessarily a requirement; however, every ballad has a climatic ending, and sometimes, this climatic ending is death. A modern ballad, or is it? I stated how the song by Johnny Cash is not a modern ballad because it fails 60% of the criteria for a ballad outlined on pg. 73 of the book, The Making of a Poem. The Ballads Today I discussed how the song must fit the certain meter of the ballad. What makes a Ballad great? A ballad is objectively great because it can touch the common man through common speech and a story.
Blank Verse, Heroic Couplet, Stanza
What is a poem? A poem is distinguished from prose because of its artistic qualities, qualities that are not bound by certain parameters as the poem "The Colonel" demonstrates. Then why read? Poetry's artistic element explains why it cannot just be summed up in a few short words What is the Tyger? I thought it was danger. Easter Wings The wings represented the power of Jesus to permeate every aspect of the poem. Possible Flaws The lack of rhyming was neither a mistake, nor a flaw. Blake chose diction over rhyming. The Song of the Mad Prince The Prince is mad in multiple ways, but this has nothing to do with the composition of the poem in stanzas. Song of the Son Night Song at Amalfi Song of the Son
The Cherry Orchard
Trophimof's Speech I explained the speech by stating that Trophimof is a socialist. Trophimof's Speech I furthered the evidence supporting that Trophimof is a socialist. The Format of the Movie I stated that the format is a bold statement by the director that gives credence to the excellence of the actors and the play itself. The movie ending? The ending was depressing because Uncle Vanya resigned his life to merely existing instead of at least trying to live with Yelena. They're gone. . .All in all the departure of these three characters yields an overall depressing ending, signified by the rather toneless statement, "They're Gone" because even though Uncle Vanya got land, he, Sonya, and the Doctor all had their opportunities for romance, their opportunities for truly living, extinguished. Strange VanyaThough I will not justify Vanya's lack of self-control, I will state that Uncle Vanya's creepy behavior is attributed to, not only his tragic life, but also his lack of touch with reality. Chekhov's Message on society I disputed a previous post, and then asserted that in both the Cherry Orchard and Uncle Vanya, Chekov illustrates contempt for the wealthy. Why Vanya?
